Window Type vs Split Type Aircon

Window Type:

  • Ideal for small rooms with a window still
  • Relative inexpensive
  • Water vented through the system internally, no tray of water to dispose
  • Slight possibility to interfere with window curtains and drapes
  • Limited areas near the windows
  • Easy to install

Split Type:

  • Ideal for small and medium size room
  • More expensive
  • Can hook multiple air handlers with one condenser while cooling different areas
  • Minimal noise
  • Energy efficient
  • Can be wall mounted, floor mounted or ceiling suspended
  • Any room with or without a window
  • Water is collected in a tank or tray and has to be emptied regularly
  • Require professional installation


Small Room—for room smaller than 25sq.m (1.0HP or below unit aircon)

Medium Room—for rooms between 25 and 44sq.m (1.5HP or 2.0HP aircon)

Large Room—for rooms between 50 and 72sq.m (2.5HP to 3.0HP aircon)
